
Yet another industry perk pays off. I was offered a unique opportunity to join a hand picked group of Hospitality professionals to visit Chateau Tanunda to help celebrate the winery’s 125th birthday.
Hosted by the fascinating and inspiring John Geber, our group was spoilt with two days of wine, discovery, more wine, history lessons, incredible food, more wine, multiple vineyard tours, vertical tastings (much more wine) and endless stories, courtesy of Mr Geber.
The chateau itself is a building of sheer beauty. Having been lovingly restored and deeply cared for, it oozes history and character. Our final full premium line up tasting included myself been given the honour of opening one of the winery’s most special wines, the gold winning 2009 Everest Old Bush Vine Grenache. I’m already planning a return visit.
